Hi,
Had VPN problems last year with D-link router. TT replaced D-link with HG520B and the problems went away. Last week, VPN problems started happening again. Four modem resets within 1 8 hour day. Today, I cannot use VPN at all and have had to revert to a dial up link to work. Totally ruined my productivity for the day as I can't even complete the most basic of tasks. What has changed ? The router is working perfectly for normal internet activities but as soon as I try to VPN to the work server the HG520 resets itself, drops all connections and restarts. I can see that TT are now on round 2 of the router replacements... does this means that I'll be receiving a D-link with patched firmware soon ? Hi Vanillamilla,
I suspect that you may just need to disable SPI. If you log into the router, choose Advanced and then Firewall and then select disable for SPI. That is currently the only known issue for VPN on HG520 routers.

Sorry for the delay in responding. SPI is already disabled.
The HG520 is displaying the same symptoms as the D-link used to ... as soon as I get a VPN connection it goes into a restart loop. In all fairness Andy, I'm not the only person to have raised this issue on the forum: http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forum...&highlight=VPN Last edited by Vanillamilla : Thursday 25th Mar 2010 at 10:27 AM. |

Hi Vanillamilla,
you are right it would seem that maybe there has been an update to the HG520B that is causing the issue. There is a replacement on its way along with a returns bag.

Just out of interest...what is the problem with VPN on TT ? The connection has worked perfectly for 7 months since the Dlink router was replaced so why has this just started happening again ? I haven't changed any settings on the HG520b. I haven't updated the firmware. I haven't had any updates on my laptop so what has happened ? I can't believe that TT are happy with sending out £40/£50 routers everytime there's a VPN issue...
![]() Just my ramblings.. I have been happy with the service for the past 7 months and working in IT, I like to try and find solutions to problems. ![]() |

Hi Vanillamilla,
whilst we have no real idea as to why this might have happened, its fairly safe to say that something has changed. If nothing had changed the VPN would still be working. ![]() Have you run connect and go at all?
