I might as well make use of this new forum after suggesting it. :D
I was rooting around in "My Account" and came across TalkTalk Client. Does anyone know what exactly the software (that is unavailable) does? Is it just like the old days when you had dedicated software from the likes of AOL and Compuserve when you wanted to surf the Internet?

I think it's exactly that - a TalkTalk branded AOL Client :s not sure why that'd be required or preferred to be honest. Will ask around in TalkTalk.

I wouldn't be using it anyway. If it is such a thing, then it seems quite a dated concept these days.

Hello rudgej,
I can understand what you are saying but a lot of our customers are familiar with this method of accessing the internet. I remember using the old compuserve portal, I am going back some years :-)
When it is launched customers will have the option to use it but it wont be mandatory
Hope this helps :-)

Thanks Stephen. I too remember my days with Compuserve and through a 14.4K modem at that. lol
I dare say that broadband is pretty much a common thing these days, and not just used by IT-aware people, so perhaps the integrated portal is making a comeback then.

As Stephen said, its for people that need it. My brother in law uses AOL and understands it and would stay with it just for the portal.
horses for courses and all that.

Can you tell me when this will be available as i have just switched over from Aol and it is based on the Aol 9VR which i quite like. Kept my aol email address as it saves changing everything. Also my wife didn't want to keep changing email addresses.

Hi,
Thanks for your query. We were going to launch the new client late last year, but it found to still have a few glitches so the release date has been moved to late Jan / early Feb from what I have been told.
As a side note, we will have a dedicated support team for customers who are having browsing issues etc. using this client.
More details will be posted when the business have made them available to me. :)
