I have had Broadband for over three years now with little or no problems.I have now changed to TT International 3 with free broadband and a min connection of 2m all with a 30 day trial period. The installation went fine and my speed ok at first 1.8m max. I have now been using it for ten days my speed slowly declining to now 600 to 700k and with many disconnections. I dont want to get shafted into a 18 month contract to find my speed is poor and regular disconnections occur, otherwise I would have been ok were I was except max speed was only 512k which it held more or less constant even in busy times.Staying there would have saved my £30 connection charge to TT.Can somebody at TT Support team look into this for me and perhaps give me some answers please.

Mike,
The forums are a place for people to discuss issues with TalkTalk with other members. We are not part of TalkTalk directly but are part of the Carphone Warehouse Group.
Your first port of call should always be TalkTalk Support 0870 444 1820 as they will be able to help you directly.
Now thats cleared up can you clarify a few things ?
what modem are you using and how is it connected to your PC (wireless/wired/USB)
what operating system are you usingAm I right in thinking that you used to get 512KB stable broadband from another provider but have just migrated to TalkTalk ?
Also, what modem did you use with your last ISP ?

Hi Mike38.
You don't say if you are on an unbundled (LLU) line and haven't mentioned your modem/router type etc; It could well be your line is still in the early "learning phase" which averages around the ten day mark.If your instability persists..give us a bit more info and I'm sure someone will be able to help !!

Sorry about the confusion about TT and thanks for the reply, This is what I have at the moment A smartAX MT 882 connected via ethernet connection unbundled LLU.
With my previous ISP I used a Speedtouch 330 and a 512k connection via USB port.
Am I better sticking with the USB connection as did not have any disconnections until I changed to ethernet, also how do I check my modem settings.

To check your connection settings browse to the router admin page at http://192.168.1.1
The username and password are both "admin" without the quotes.
The first page you see when you sign in will look something like the attached picture (but connected hopefully), use your mouse and select the area highlighted in yellow and copy and paste it into the post so it looks like this ..

The MT882 is a modem and router in one box.
The system status page is 192.168.1.1 for ethernet and 192.168.1.2 for USB.
Ethernet is best for fast connections over 2-4 Megs otherwise it shouldn't matter.
If ethernet is causing problems and USB is OK, you probably need to check ethernet configuration on your computer. There are plenty of things to get wrong here.

Thanks for the reply, at the moment all I can get is 1.5m, the status pages you mention I can not access as they time out, as I have said before its unbundled LLU about 1.5miles away from the exchange,I will have to contact TT as its very unsatisfactory but again thanks for your help.

If you can't view the service status pages of the MT882 you certainly have a computer configuration problem. Check that those special urls have all permissions and security features relaxed.

Hi Matt, phoned TT Support yesterday (Saturday) after a long conversation it was not resolved, but I was told investigations would take place, low and behold up to 2.2m on speedtest from this site today. This I think is the max to be expected from my exchange. EETE has posted about me not being able to view the Service Status Pages of the MT882 and says it could be down to special urls whats that mean.
