I have just joined Talk Talk from Aol because of the phone package, i had broadband changed over last Wednesday , tried it friday night disconnected about 10 times. I spead tested tonight between 9.30 to 10.15 minimum i had was an upload of .8 to a maximum of 1.5 plus a couple of disconnections, had no problem at all with aol , this broadband service seems not that good. I kept the aol netgear router i have it wired though not wireless. I live in Bordon.

Looking at the exchange you have a fantastic looking profile.
Line Status Up
Downstream Rate (Kbits/s) 8123
Upstream Rate (Kbit/s) 446
Downstream SNR Margin 21.5
Line Profile 8Mb 15Db
And its been stable for at least the last 7 and a half hours.
How are you determining speed ? And are you doing this over wireless ?
PS I moved this to a new thread so as not to hijack the other one.

Log on to the routers admin console at http://192.168.0.1 and look at the status page ... if you haven't changed anything on the netgear its username / password should be "admin" / "password" respectively.

Netgear have a later version of the firmware for your router.

Not sure if it will resolve any problems as they are not listed in the "bugs fixed" list. However that looks amazingly small for such a large jump in revision number.

I prefer the Netgear as I know it quite well. Its the same reason I prefer it over the Belkin and D-Link. Recently I have grown to like my Speedtouch a lot.
Unofficially chatting to someone who does work with AOL Labs testing and he was saying they were complimentary about the Huawei routers speed. Don't have any results to hand so I can't confirm it either way.
When you are troubleshooting a line always use the TalkTalk kit as its one less "unknown" in the fault finding process.
If you have both you can always try both and see which one attains the higher sync speed and then evaluate which one holds on to the line better.
