When I signed up for TT I was told be a charming and most helpful gent from Bangalore that as I was migrating from Onetel that I would receive a refund of the £29.99 connection fee.

He told me that it would appear on my 1st bill (which it duly did on Bill# 5129278552 - but that it would be refunded over the two subsequent bills.

Sadly this didn't happen - my 2nd bill 5132263460 just shows the standard phone charges :(

Did this gent from Bangalore tell me a porky?

1st time/reference I have heard of this; was it some sort of 'special offer' if so do you have the details still?
Only thing I have heard of in past(cant remember details) is if you sign up via a 3rd party but not sure if this is still a current offer.

Not that I am aware of. I was told that as I was migrating from Onetel (also CPWH) and that this was the same company that I would receive the refund of connection fee in two stages.

In fact I had only telephoned Onetel in the 1st instance to change my line rental back to BT in order to migrate to THEM. The person I was speaking to at Onetel then transferred me on to someone at Talk Talk.

Thanks for the reply.

Just thought I ought to report back. I contacted TT this morning and spoke to a charming lady in Durban SA (I'm just amazed at how many places TT have their Help desks located :) )

Anyway - after a short time she came back to me and arranged for the connection fee to be refunded on my next bill.

When I spoke to the call centre they never mentioned the £29.99 connection fee. So when I got my welcome pack and the nice line that I would be charged £29.99 connection fee, I went ballistic and phoned the call centre back and threatened to cancel if they did not rescind this charge. They say they won't charge me, but I am waiting for my first bill to see if they have kept their word!!

Hello,

All customers new and existing signing up to a tariff with a connection fee will be required to pay it unless they have already paid a connection fee on their initial tariff.

grajay, I was going to offer to listen to call and offer a refund but it looks like you are all sorted now :)

Thanks

Hi to all members , and taltalk staff. This is my first post on here, and it is a bit of a gripe. Re the signing on fee. I have been with TT for a few months now, just for my phone. I decided to swith over to TT broadband. Was given all relevant info by the TT guy, and was told the connection fee wouldnt have to be paid for about 6 weeks. He said it wont appear on next bill, but the following bill. This was on the 26th March. Two days later i check my TT bill online and the connection fee as already been added. This is before i get my go live date, which was on the 9th of April, but only managed to go live today, the 11th April, when the connection fee was due to be paid. When i rang TT about this the first person said it shouldnt have been added to my bill yet, she put me through to another dept. he said it is to pay for the equipment we are suppyling you, what equipment i said, im using my own router. Got put through to another dept, he said it was to pay for the international call plan, i dont make any. And anyway a lot of international calls are free arnt they. i know this charge as to be paid, im not disputing that, but being on a limited budget, it was hard to scrape together that 30 quid at short notice. And wouldnt it be great if all TT sales people could all read from the same script. Apart from that bit of a gripe, everything esle is Ticketyboo.

Hello,

grajay, I was going to offer to listen to call and offer a refund but it looks like you are all sorted now :)

Thanks

Thanks Stephen. I do hope I am sorted out. The lady I spoke to said that the full credit would appear in my account within 48 hours but so far all I have showing is my last bill.

I'll hold on until the next bill arrives and if the credit is missing perhaps you can look at it for me please. Meanwhile I have every confidence that the matter has been resolved :s

Sorry Ticketyboo,

The connection fee is a connection fee and nothing else, its not for calls or equipment, Sorry if you have been told other wise :(

Hi Stephen

Sorry to have to revisit this topic again.

I spoke to a lady called Anoushka in Durban on the 31st March who told me that the connection fee would be refunded and would appear on my next bill. I've now had my latest broadband bill and sadly, the refund is still missing. Are you still able to help me out please?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Grajay,

Checked on your account and the credit is there. Was raised on 31 March. Online billing will not reflect this that as the credit was raised after your latest bill was produced. You have a credit balance on your account and not a debit at the mo. PM me if you need more info.

Silly me - I was looking at the wrong account - somehow or other I'd got it fixed in my mind that it would appear on the broadband account and not the land line one.

Many thanks for the awesomely quick reply :)

Now I'm totally confused. My latest bill shows that the last direct debit payment made was for £54.93 (according to my bank this was pa1d 10th March) EDIT - For some unaccountable reason the Direct Debit for £21.32 didn't leave my account earlier this month but even so this bill is most confusing

This is the summary:

Bill Date 25 Apr 2008
Bill No 5135321690 Payment Due 09 May 2008
Balance brought forward £21.32 (EDITHad thought this was paid 9th April but it wasn't)
Your New Charges -£8.74 CR
Total amount payable inc VAT £12.58
The amount due this month is £12.58. Do not worry, you do not need to do anything, this payment will be taken automatically by Direct Debit on or immediately after the 09/05/08.
VAT Amount (included where applicable in this bill total) -£1.31
For 01547 (number removed)
Talk International Anytime 25/04/08 - 24/05/08 £0.00
Call Charges £0.00
Credit 0UFSU -£2.00 ???
Line Rental 25/04/08 - 24/05/08 £1.00 ???

If anyone can unravel this I'd appreciate it.

Many thanks.

Umm - just checked my bank account as I figured it was very odd TT not taking the Direct Debit earlier this month - seems now that no such payment was taken which might explain my total confusion - however the bill itself is not at all clear.

Hi Grajay. There are problems with online billing at the moment. See the sticky post in the "My Account" section and see if its the same problem as you are experiencing.

Cheers
