Network Improvements
A massive network upgrade is currently underway which will improve not only reliability but also the potential for future services.
Local exchanges are being migrated onto the TalkTalk Technology* network. To date around 700 exchanges have been migrated onto the network which utilises new optical equipment and means no more relying on third party carriers and suppliers. Another key benefit of this upgrade a ten-fold increase to Gigabit capacity over the network.
The upgrade programme will complete at the end of 2010. Current Gigabit network enabled exchanges and planned completion dates can be found list on our TalkTalk Exchange Status page on the Service Dashboard.
